Handmade chasen (matcha tea whisk) by 20th generation master craftsman Tango Tanimura in Takayama. The light coloured Hachiku bamboo is seasoned for several years before a whisk is cut from a single piece.
The 80 Hondate type chasen is a whisk with 80 prongs suitable for preparing usucha (thin tea), but is a good all purpose whisk. The high number of thin prongs make is easier to whisk a smooth bowl of matcha.
